WHAT IS "CHILD DEDICATION?"
Child Dedication is a ceremony where you dedicate your child to God’s hands and dedicate yourselves as parents to raise your child to love and follow Jesus. It’s a joyful time to recognize that every child is a gift from God, and for parents to publicly commit themselves to do their best by that gift.
Child Dedication isn’t the same as infant baptism. We believe that baptism is a public declaration of an individual’s decision to follow Jesus. Since infants aren’t capable of making that decision, we hold off baptism for a time when a person is old enough to understand the decision to make Jesus the forgiver and leader of their life.
Child Dedications are a great time–you’ll get to introduce your child to the community, and we’ll pray with and for your family and commit to supporting you as you embark on the awesome journey that is parenthood.
